Because of work requirements, many people are forced to be sedentary for hours of the day in their offices. However, experts say that sitting for long periods of time can cause stress, pains, aches and other adverse effects.

If you want to maintain your health, following are 5 ways that can help you stay healthy even while working. Let’s check out now.

1. Cut down on the coffee

Although a cup of coffee can give you the instant energy and help you ward off sleep, it can dehydrate you. To stay healthy, you should cut down on java or replace it with water, which can remove toxins from your body. Especially if your office is air conditioned, you need to drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated while working.

2. Sit properly

Watching your posture at work plays a role in helping you avoid a downgrade in your health. When you sit, you need to keep your feet resting comfortably on the floor. You should also have your computer monitor at eye level as well as make sure to sit close to the work station. By sitting properly, you can avoid injury to the muscles of your arms and legs. It can help you prevent a neck pain and back pain as well.

3. Take desk breaks

According to a recent study, sitting at your desk all day is bad for you and more seriously, it can be lethal. Therefore, it is always important for you to take desk breaks to re-energize yourself. While working, you should sometimes stop looking at your monitor, reading or doing other close-up work for a while. This can not only give your eyes a break but also keep them from being dry.

4. Keep moving

While sitting at a desk all day may seem like a good way to stay productive, it's very unhealthy. Spending long periods of time sitting in your chair might shorten your lifespan, according to some studies. Therefore, you’d better make time for workout and keep moving throughout the day. Instead of sitting in the break room, you can do some stretching exercises or take a walk to let the body relax for a while.

5. Pack a healthy lunch

Having a healthy lunch also gives you energy for the rest of the day and keeps you staying healthy at work. Packing your own lunch also helps you save money and calories. In addition, it keeps you full, so you will not munch while working, and hence you can stop putting on weight.
