The 61-year-old Bee Gee singer Robin Gibb has been reported to experience treatment for liver cancer for months. Last month, Robin Gibb tried to deny rumors about his health saying that “I’m feeling great, absol-utely great.” but he has been seen in public looking increasingly frail. Last week, the star was taken to hospital from his Oxfordshire home. He also spent five hours in hospital on Tuesday before being taken back home.
Robin Gibb’s family members including his wife Dwina, 58, his mother Barbara, 91, and his older brother Barry, 65, who came back to America, are gathering round him at his £8million home.
Although Robin Gibb was seen promoting well the “Poppy Appeal” single, a cover of the Bee Gees hit “I’ve Gotta Get a Message To You” on “The Alan Titchmarsh Show” last month, he looked so slim and weak. Therefore, concerns about his health were fuelled.
Last April, Bee Gee singer Robin Gibb had to postpone a tour because of extreme stomach pain. Last October, the star experienced a surgery on his intestine, the same medical emergency that claimed the life of his twin brother eight years earlier.
Robin Gibb, who doesn’t smoke or drink and eats healthily, had two children Spencer and Melissa with his first wife Molly Hullis. Robin Gibb’s second wife, Dwina Murphy Gibb, is an author and an artist. The couple has a son Robin-John together.
The Bee Gees group of three brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb has become one of the most successful pop groups of all time. After Maurice’s death, the band was disbanded, having sold 200 million records worldwide. The group has produced hits including Night Fever, Jive Talkin’ and You Win Again.
